Background

In early August 2024 one of my friends asked how to get started with digital electronics. In an effort to save him the hassle of ordering components, messy breadboards and a steep learning curve, I created a kit allowing him to build his own digital Etch-A-Sketch based off of the original kids toy released 1959.

With the help of custom written webpages walking the user through assembly, boot loading and finally programming, this kit teachers the user the bare basics about Arduino programming and even the fundamental function of 2-phase rotary encoders.

Female headers connected to the custom designed and manufactured PCB allow the Seeeduino Xiao, the processor, to be removed and reused in future projects including macro-keyboards made capable by the inbuilt UART to USB converter.
